a potent herb. the name is thought to come from a Halfling word, either staivel, meaning “grass” or stefin, meaning “weed”. (suffyst, meaning “pot”, is sometimes suggested as well. but no-one has been able to explain what relationship pottery and herbology would have with each other.) it is available only from the Drummers and those to whom they sell it, and is valued for, among other things, its medicinal properties.
